The Hoover Dam is a concrete arch-gravity dam situated on the Colorado River, on the border between Arizona and Nevada, in the United States. The dam was built between 1931 and 1936, during the Great Depression, and was named after President Herbert Hoover.
The Hoover Dam stands at a height of 726 feet and spans 1,244 feet across the Black Canyon, creating the largest reservoir in the United States, Lake Mead. The dam is one of the largest concrete structures in the world.
Photos were taken in October 2022 when Lake Mead reached record low levels, revealing a significant portion of the Hoover Dam.
