K200 is the first infantry fighting armored vehicle developed in Korea. It has been deployed since 1984 and now, more than 2,500 units of newly developed K-21 and K200 have been produced and are being operated. In addition to the rifles, it is also designed to protect infantry from 12.7mm heavy machine gun bullets.
K200A1 is a variant with a new engine and transmission to improve maneuverability for mountainous terrains. Various improved armored vehicles based on the K200 have been developed and are being used in various fields.
Since 1993, 110 units have been exported to Malaysia and it was the beginning of a new era of exporting Korean weapons overseas. Then it was gradually upgraded to K200A1 from 2000.
